This time of year is definitely my favorite. I love the holidays, the decorations, the family time, food, and all the fun activities our family can do together. Now that Chase is one, I think it’s the best time to explore the holiday activities around us and I wanted to share them with my fellow New Jersey friends. Chase is definitely at the perfect age right now where he absolutely loves discovering new things. The other day, I finished setting up a little Christmas tree in his nursery, and I swear he stared at it forever. He was seriously so mesmerized by the lights and it made me so excited to take him to see all the fun Christmas displays near us. Even though COVID is still very much going on and remaining distant and masked up is 100% necessary, there are still a bunch of COVID-friendly activities for your family to participate in during this time of year. Something so simple as hopping in the car for an hour just to drive around while listening to your favorite holiday songs and searching for the best Christmas lights is something I look forward to every year and is most definitely COVID appropriate. Looking at Christmas lights was something my Dad and I did every year when I was little and I love the idea of doing this with our kids too. If you’re living in or around the Bergen County area, check out these awesome COVID-friendly holiday activities for your family to enjoy together!
Demarest Farms Orchard of Lights
If you’ve never been to Demarest Farms, this is your sign to go! Around the holidays, they put on a sweet kid-friendly guided drive through experience where you get to see some amazing Christmas light displays. They also have fire pits, hot cocoa, pictures with Santa, and so much more. You do have to make a reservation before you head to the farm and they have a whole list of COVID procedures and rules online to read ahead of time and follow during your visit.
Abma’s Farm
This place is the cutest little market ever with a beautiful greenhouse and a fun petting zoo area! During the holiday season they have social distanced Story Time with Santa & Mrs. Clause and I honestly can’t wait to take Chase to it next year when he’s a little older. The petting zoo is fun for all ages and it’s just all around a great place to explore in New Jersey.
Mini Session With Erin Mulrain Photography
I absolutely love updating our family photos throughout the year, especially during the holidays so I wanted to share one of my favorite New Jersey based photographers with you all! My dear friend Erin Mulrain is such a wonderful photographer to work with and makes every session so much fun. She has an eye for detail that is truly one of a kind and every photo session she delivers is done with so much heart and care for her clients. It’s awesome to work with a photographer who strives to create these precious memories for your family. I love every session we have with her and always recommend her to anyone in the area. Check her out for a cute mini session!
The Rink at Winter Wonderland
I don’t think our family will be able to do this any time soon because Chase is too little, but ice skating is such a fun winter activity. Maybe Ryan and I could squeeze in a date night to be able to go!! The Rink at Winter Wonderland is open until February 21st, 2021 and tickets must be purchased in advance. They are requiring masks at all times and are not allowing any walk-ins to comply with COVID regulations. I definitely recommend this as a fun activity for families with older children who might be better with their balance than our one year old LOL.
Magic of Lights
I am SO excited to bring Chase to the Magic of Lights drive through light show this year because he has been in awe of our Christmas tree lights over the past few weeks and I feel like he will go nuts over the big displays. HBO Max + Magic of Lights is a drive through experience with familiar holiday scenes, characters, and insane digital animations. Tickets can be purchased online or at the gate and it’s one price per car. This is such a fun way to enjoy Christmas lights from the comfort of your own car, so I definitely recommend getting your tickets ahead of time if you’re interested in going!
